Privacy Policy
Biased is a daily K-pop guessing game at biased.cc and in the Biased app on Discord. It has no ads and no tracking cookies, and you can play without an account. This page explains what is stored, why, and how to have it removed.
If you play without an account
Your progress, streak, settings and ult group are saved in your own browser (local storage). They stay on your device unless you copy your progress code yourself. Clearing your browser data removes them.
What the server receives from every player
When you finish a track on the day, the game sends which day and track it was, whether you got it, at which clip length, and your ult group if you picked one. Nothing identifying you is stored with it: no name, no account and no IP address. These totals power the “how everyone did” numbers and the fandom board.
If you sign in
You can sign in with Discord or Google. In the Biased app on Discord you are signed in through Discord, after you approve it in Discord’s own prompt. Biased then stores:
- your Discord user id and/or Google account id, so we can recognise you next time;
- your display name and profile picture address, to show you that you are signed in;
- a copy of your progress (days played, results, streak and settings), so it follows you between devices and into the Discord app;
- sign-in sessions: a cookie on the website, or a token in the Discord app, kept for up to 180 days. Only a scrambled (hashed) form of the session is stored on the server.
We never receive your email address, your password, your Discord messages, servers or friends, or anything from your Google account beyond your id, name and picture.
Google user data
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Biased asks Google only for the basic sign-in scopes openid and profile. From your Google account Biased receives and stores exactly three things: your Google account id, your name and the address of your profile picture.
- How it is used: only to sign you in, to recognise you on your next visit, and to show your name and picture in the game’s own account menu.
- How it is stored: in Biased’s database on Cloudflare, together with your saved progress. Sessions are stored only as a hash.
- Sharing: Google user data is never sold, shared with or transferred to anyone, never used for advertising, and never used to train or improve AI or machine-learning models.
- Not accessed: your email address, contacts, Drive, Gmail, calendar or any other Google data.
- Deletion: email [email protected] or use Feedback, and your account, including the Google id, name and picture, is deleted. You can also remove Biased’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Biased’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Discord user data
If you sign in with Discord, Biased asks for the identify scope and stores your Discord user id, display name and avatar address, used in the same way and under the same rules as Google data above. In the Biased app on Discord it also asks for rpc.activities.write, which only lets it show what you are playing (for example “Daily #3 · Track 2 of 4”) on your Discord profile while the game is open; nothing is read with it. You can remove Biased’s access in Discord under User Settings → Authorized Apps.
Feedback
If you send feedback, what you write is stored, including any contact details you choose to add.
Why we keep it
Account data and progress are kept to provide the service you asked for: saving your game and showing it on your other devices. Anonymous game totals are kept because they are part of the game itself. We do not sell data, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles.
Other services
To play audio, show cover art, music videos and group photos, your browser loads them from Apple (iTunes), YouTube and Wikipedia; in the Discord app this goes through Discord’s proxy and Biased’s own server. Signing in goes through Discord or Google. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles the traffic and stores the data above. Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
How long it is kept
Your account and saved progress are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Expired sign-in sessions are removed. Anonymous game totals are kept for as long as the game runs.
Your rights
You can ask (at [email protected]) to see the data stored about your account, to have it corrected, or to have your account and saved progress deleted. Signing out ends the session on that device. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Sweden, IMY).
Age
Biased is meant for players aged 13 and over, which is also the minimum age to use Discord.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Significant changes will be mentioned on the site.
Who is responsible
Biased is an independent project run by a private individual in Sweden, who is the data controller for the data described on this page.
